Design & Presence
The Zig Zag High Side Table is designed with a slender rectangular footprint and an elevated 520mm height. Proportioned to align cleanly with high-arm sofas and deep lounge chairs, its vertical profile introduces architectural rhythm to the living area. The geometric solid wood base supports the marble top securely while keeping floor circulation clear through compact dimensions of 600mm by 330mm.
The table combines a selected natural marble slab with a structural solid wood frame. We construct the angled leg framework using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, creating a rigid interlocking chassis engineered to distribute the stone's downward weight evenly. The timber is seasoned through controlled kiln-drying to stabilize internal moisture, while concealed mechanical fasteners secure the marble top with built-in expansion relief to prevent stress cracks over time.
In daily use, the elevated marble surface places morning coffee, reading glasses, or a lamp directly at arm level without leaning forward. The honed marble handles daily drinks reliably, while the warm solid wood frame softens contact along walking pathways. Conceived, resolved, and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Zig Zag High table brings honest craftsmanship into everyday domestic routines.
