Design & Presence
The Zig Zag Low Side Table is defined by its compact, square footprint and a grounded 370mm height. Proportioned to sit comfortably beside deep modular sofas and low lounge chairs, its stance introduces clean architectural lines without interrupting visual sightlines across open living areas. The open geometric solid wood base supports a square marble surface of 440mm by 440mm, providing functional tabletop utility while keeping floor pathways clear.
The design pairs a solid natural marble slab with an interlocking solid wood chassis. Each timber component is hand-selected for structural stability and continuous grain flow, then joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon connections engineered to distribute the stone's downward mass securely. Concealed mechanical expansion fasteners secure the marble top to the timber base, accommodating natural seasonal movement across temperature and humidity shifts without compromising structural integrity.
In everyday living, the low marble plane offers an accessible setting for coffee mugs, art books, and small personal objects beside low seating. The honed stone resists daily liquid marks, while the hand-eased solid wood edges soften points of physical contact along busy room routes. Conceived and custom-made by NICCHRIS in Malaysia, the Zig Zag Low table delivers honest material balance for modern domestic living.
